Surgical Treatment of Double Outlet Right Ventricle

Abstract
Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV) is thought to be extremely rare, but probably due to increased awareness of the lesion and improved clinical and pathological acumen this congenital anomaly is now identified more frequently.
Total correction of DORV was tried by McGoon in 1950, the report of successful surgical repair of DORV was reported by Kirklin, Engle since that time.
We have experienced recently total correction of DORV in 5 cases since last 2 year 7 months.
The operation consisted of construction of an internal baffle connecting the LV to the Aorta through VSD and the pulmonary stenosis or RV outflow infundibular hypertrophy were managed by woven Dacron arterial patch enlargement of the right ventricular wall, or Rastelli¢¥s operation with conduit containing Hancock valve.
Pleural effusion was developed in post-operative periods in 2 cases but excellent results were obtained following total correction in 4 cases.
One case has failed to survive the post-operative period because of right heart and respiratory failure.
